Private medicine in Europe: main challenges and directions of development

The European Association of Private Hospitals UEHP, of which the APMI is a member, conducted an express survey among private medicine associations in 16 European countries.

The results showed:

  • The most pressing challenge is the shortage of medical personnel (45%)
  • Other important problems are discrimination in the private sector, difficulties in cooperation with insurance companies, weak dialogue with the state


At the same time:

  • 70% of private hospitals are ready to be more involved in prevention
  • 63% — in screening programs
  • 23% — in vaccination
  • 62% are not involved in the implementation of the European Health Data Area (EHDS)
