Comment by Vadim Zukin, Operational Director of the Medical Center “Stork”

Vadim Zukin, Chief Operating Officer of Leleka Medical Center

I consider the confirmation of JCI accreditation to be the biggest achievement of the Lleka Medical Center in 2023. The plans are to continue the introduction of new areas of work already as a multidisciplinary medical center and to increase the awareness of people that in “Stork” from now on, childbirth and pregnancy management are only one of the directions.

I see the development of private medicine in Ukraine in three main things:

- introduction of surcharge/co-payments;

- ensuring fair competition with the public sector;

- taming the informal market of medicine.

Forecasts for the field of medicine for 2024 strongly depend on the foreign policy situation, the military situation and the information broadcast by the media. Currently, the media and politicians broadcast information about “deadliness”, that “the war is long”, “aid to Ukraine has decreased”, etc. Under such conditions, on the one hand, I do not expect a significant decrease in demand or a deterioration in any performance. But there will likely be no significant improvements or plans either.
