Olena Yeshchenko: “Ukrainians deserve to independently choose the institution where to be treated”

Olena Yeshchenko, Chairman of the Association of Private Medical Institutions of Ukraine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, CEO and co-owner of Smart Medical Center network of private clinics told specifically for “FACTS”:

“Unfortunately, the tariffs introduced by the NSU to provide medical services under the program of state medical guarantees are impossible to fulfill by private health care institutions, since the tariffs of the NSU do not cover the costs of the institution.

The fact is that state and municipal institutions receive from the state or local budget funds for their maintenance, purchase of medical equipment, including expensive ones, utilities, etc.

And all these expenses are not included in the NHSU tariff, which only provides the necessary consumables and payment of medical personnel for the provision of services.

But a private institution must fully provide for itself and include all costs in the tariff, therefore, according to the tariffs established by the state, the NSU, unfortunately, simply does not have the opportunity to provide services.”
